106-year-old Droitwich Working Men's Club set to close for good

THE CENTURY old Droitwich Working Men’s Club is set to close for good on March 28.

The tough decision was taken following an emergency general meeting on Sunday.

In a post on Facebook, staff said the permanent closure was taken with a ‘heavy heart’, citing rising operating costs, mounting building repairs and debt.

The building has been a working men’s club since 1920.

The statement added: “This hasn’t been an easy decision to make. However, between the significant rise in operating costs over the last few years and the mounting challenges of building repairs and debt, we have reached a point where we can no longer move forward.

“We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, your smiles, and your business over the years.

“We would love to see you one last time before we lock the doors, so please do stop by before the 28th.”

The Building is now for sale and the current operators would love to see the space continue to have a role in the town centre.

Anyone interested in purchasing the property or who knows anyone who may be interested should contact the club secretary at: facebook.com/Droitwichwmc – the Droitwich Working Men’s Club Facebook page.
