FIBRE optic cables underneath a railway bridge on New Road, Cutnall Green, were damaged on Tuesday (March 15).

Further damage was also caused 100metres past Doverdale Manor where the cables run underground.

It appears the cabling has either been hacked or an attempt was made to saw through it.

The crime was reported to the police by BT staff.

Similar offences have been committed in other rural areas although none of the cable has been taken and it is not known if people’s service has been affected.

Witnesses to any of the above crimes or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
