Take a peak at Droitwich's past at the first ever Local History Day

THOSE wanting to find out more about Droitwich’s past can go along to the town’s first ever Local History Day being held at the library between 10am and 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).

Visitors are urged to take along their photographs and documents as experts from Droitwich Heritage Centre will be on hand to answer questions about them.

Some collectors will have their items on display, there will be exhibits from the Our Library, Our War and Our Droitwich archives and there will be unusual artefacts from Droitwich Heritage Centre to view. Representatives from the centre want to hear from residents who can shed any light on the items to help identify them.

Members of the Droitwich U3A will help people to delve into the local history filing cabinet and new computer database and people can find out about how they can research their family history for free with Ancestry Library Edition.

The town’s archives contain a wealth of information, including photographs, documents, maps and aerial pictures that are all now easy to locate.

For those who want some fresh air amidst all that researching can go on a free historical guided walk at 10.30am. And there will also be a variety of books on sale.
