RESIDENTS from different generations toasted the festive season together at Droitwich Spa High School when pupils held their Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party.

This was the 14th year the event has been held and, supported by Age UK, it is seen at the school as one of the highlights of the winter term.

Year nine students organised the event, which featured the singing of carols, the giving of presents and the eating of mince pies.

Elizabeth Whitehouse, who oversaw the event, said: “It is important in so many ways for both our students and our senior neighbours.

“There are very few opportunities in which teenagers get a chance to interact with older members of the community beyond their own family, so this is a great way for them to demonstrate the image that is presented of teenagers is not always a fair one.”

She added the school had a well-deserved reputation for being a part of the community and the party was one of the key events in the calendar, which the students got so much out of.

A total of 28 residents went along to the event on December 10.
