Smith hopeful of retaining Alvechurch target Morris

DANIEL Morris could be on his way out of Bromsgrove Sporting after it emerged Midland Football League Premier Division side Alvechurch were interested in signing the full back.

However, manager Paul Smith said he was hopeful of keeping hold of Morris who he brought to the club from Studley at the start of the season.

The 28-year-old has made 11 appearances since he arrived at the Victoria Ground, with his last showing coming in Sporting’s 0-0 draw against Pershore.

Bromsgrove have not conceded any goals in the last five times Morris has featured at the back for Smith’s side, which has led to an approach from Alvechurch over a possible move.

But Smith insisted he was still part of his plans as he looks to get the Rouslers promoted from Midland Football League Division One.

“He is a tremendous full back who has been top draw for us,” Smith said. “But he has been unavailable for the last two weeks due to work commitments.

“Alvechurch are trying to tempt him away from us. But I am hopeful he will be turning their offer down and staying with us as we would like to retain him.”
