THERE will be a Christmas Lantern Parade in Droitwich’s Lido Park.
Lanterns in the Park, organised by the Droitwich Arts Network, will be held at 6.30pm in the Lido Park on December 12 and follows on from a similar event last year which was a great success.
The Droitwich Community Choir and the town’s Salvation Army band will perform at the bandstand, providing seasonal songs and there will also be refreshments, food stalls and an appearance by the man in the big red suit.
Local schools have been making lanterns and it is hoped the whole community will get involved and help make it an annual event.
Estate agents Nicol & Co has backed the parade by donating £500.
For more on the event call Peter Hawkins on 07766 415094.
Those wanting to make their own lights for the occasion can get ‘lantern making kits’ from Planet Droitwich in St Andrew’s Shopping Centre from tomorrow (Saturday) and on the ‘Lanterns in the Park’ Facebook page.
* DROITWICH’S annual Christmas lights switch-on takes place in the town tomorrow (Saturday).
The plunger will be pushed at 4.30pm, but there will be a host of entertainment and festive activities taking place before that.
It includes performances from the Droitwich Community Choir
