REPRESENTATIVES from Worcestershire County Council have met with those from Diamond Bus after complaints about problems with services offered by the public transport operator.
And the company’s operations director has assured the authority urgent attention was being given to the issues raised in a bid to improve the reliability of the routes.
Last week, we reported on our front page how the caretaker of a sheltered accommodation scheme in the Spa had approached the paper after buses which elderly residents relied on had failed to turn up on several occasions.
Steve Richardson, who works at Chalverton Court, Westbury Avenue, said a number of buses had been cancelled without warning and that had meant some people living there had struggled to get to the doctor’s or other appointments on time.
He also said other services failing to turn up had left residents stranded in Droitwich town centre, forcing them to pay for taxis to get back,
A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said the authority had already undertaken some further monitoring following the meeting, which took place at the end of last week.
And, she added, all journeys observed, were operating within expected times.
“We will continue to monitor these services regularly to ensure the steps taken by Diamond Bus are resulting in a positive outcome for passengers.” she said.
