THERE will be plenty of out of this world activities going on at Droitwich Library tomorrow (Saturday) when the venue’s annual free Space Day is held.

The Stargazing Live event, which takes place between 9.30am and 4.30pm, is set to be the biggest ever with 21 manned stands.

Among the exhibitors will be the Black Knights West Midlands Hobby Rocket Flying Club, the Birmingham Science Fiction Group, The British Interplanetary Society West Midlands, which is based in Droitwich, and The Midland Spaceflight Society.

There will also be authors Robin Brand, who penned Britain’s First Space Rocket – The Story of the Skylark, and Bromsgrove sci-fi writer Carmen Capuano who will be signing copies of her books.

Jerry Stone, from Spaceflight UK, will be giving a talk on ‘Is Pluto a Planet’ at 11.30am and Dave Shayler from the Astro Info Service (AIS) will give a presentation entitled ‘Stepping Out – 50 years of spacewalking’. That will take place at 1.30pm.

And, as part of a packed day, youngsters will also be able to take part in a build a model spaceship competition.
