A NUMBER of grants were finalised by Droitwich Town Council at the meeting on Monday (September 14).

Six amounts were agreed in total, which included £500 funding for the two Droitwich Spa Ladies FC teams to get a new away kit and the same amount for the Worcester, Birmingham and Droitwich Canals Society. That cash will part-fund entertainers and groups at the water festival, which will be part of the 2016 St Richard’s Festival.

A total of £750 went to Stephanie Sergeant – Charisma Training to help with costs towards sharing information and advice, including training for visually impaired people in Droitwich and giving them access to different devices, such as iPads.

Awards of £1,000 went to St Peters Pre-School to part-fund new equipment and parts for an outdoor play area and to Droitwich Spa Foodbank to help sustain the charity which helps families in need. The cash will be used to improve storage facilities at its Berry Hill base and to help and encourage volunteers.

Another £1,000 went to the Alzheimer’s Society for its new Meeting Centre Support Programme which starts on Wednesday (September 23) and runs until late 2016 at the Community Hall.
