DROITWICH Youth Council has gone from strength-to-strength since its launch at this year’s Salt Fest.
The news was announced by Katie Bowen from the newly-formed organisation who gave the update to members of Droitwich Town Council on Monday at the full council meeting.
Katie said the stall at the event which celebrated the town’s salt history was well-received, adding the group had made £58 from a photo competition on the day, which will now be put towards youth activities.
And she said a number of new members had been recruited for the committee, including three from Westacre Middle School and three from Witton Middle.
The next stage for the group is to hold a youth forum with other young people’s organisations, including sports clubs, the Brownies, Scouts and Guides.
And, Katie said, the Droitwich Youth Council was hoping to speak to the Norbury Theatre about showing some films for young people throughout the autumn.
“It’s an older part of the town which we want young people to appreciate more,” added Katie.
Anne Lane, the chairman of the Norbury Theatre, said: “We would be more than happy to speak to the youth council.
“We have the facilities and we would be delighted to welcome them here.”
The youth council is looking for sponsorship from local businesses and more young people are being urged to take part in the project.
