The annual Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Mornings took place last Friday (September 25) and throughout the weekend.
Staff, parents and children at Ombersley First School held theirs on Friday morning.
Headteacher Caroline Moore said: “We would like to thank all of the staff and parents for supporting us by bringing and buying so many delicious cakes.
“All of the money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support to help continue the amazing work they to do to support people living with cancer.”
At Jellybabies Nursery, based at Longbridge Methdist Church and Day Centre, £240 was raised for the cause.
The children took part in a week-long theme, learning about the wider world and caring for others.
And at Hanbury Church of England First School, pupils used the brand new cookery room to bake cakes, whilst others brought in goodies to eat at breaktime – paying a donation for the privilege, which went to Macmillan.
Headteacher Andrew Payne said the school had a new state-of-the-art kitchen and cookery room fitted over the summer and this was a perfect way to celebrate its addition, whilst raising funds for a very worthy cause: “The children have organised and ran the coffee morning themselves which has been a great success, raising over £400 for Macmillan.
“Thank you to the staff and parents who have really supported us and, of course, to our year four pupils who have worked very hard.”
