YOUNGSTERS from three Worcestershire schools, including Cutnall Green First, got to visit the Houses of Parliament and other London landmarks.
The event was aimed at teaching the children about history and enabling them, through a workshop, to explore how members of the public had made an impact on Parliament.
Among the places they visited were the throne room and the ‘yes and no’ chamber which, many said, reminded them of voting on their own school council.
They also liked the idea of having their own drawer to send letters to the queen.
Another highlight for the pupils was a walking tour taking in Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street.
Kathryn Brunt, the executive principal of the Rivers Academy Trust which organised the visit, said many of them had never visited London before and, following the success of the trip, they were hoping to put other collaborative outings on in the future.
“All children from the three schools enjoyed getting to know each other and seeing the sites of the capital city.”
The Rivers Academy CofE Trust is a group of three good and outstanding schools spread across the county – all varying in size, economic and social backgrounds.
It is aimed at ensuring every child leaves fulfilling their maximum potential and being prepared for secondary school.
