Four held by police after spate of tool thefts from vehicles in Droitwich

FOUR people have been arrested in connection with a spate of tool thefts from vehicles which happened in Droitwich.

The thefts were carried out overnight between Monday and Tuesday and again overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday (November 9-12).

Among the roads where incidents happened were Clydesdale Close, Hanbury Road, Valentine Close, Swan Drive and Cockshute Hill.

The majority of them saw commercial vans targeted and tools taken included demolition hammers, drills, a jigsaw and a sander.

Sgt Sarah Kent, from Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team, urged those with work vans to remove their tools from the vehicles overnight.

She understood some people were unable to do that because of how many they had and advised van drivers to consider carefully where they parked them.

One way of preventing thefts, she said, was, where possible, to reverse the van right up close to a building so the back doors could not be opened.

The police have also recovered a number of tools which have not yet been claimed by their owners.

Anyone with any information should call Droitwich SNT on 101.
