A KNITTED wall hanging to remember those from Droitwich who lost their lives in the First World War has been hung in the town’s St Andrew’s Church.
The piece was created by Droitwich artist Ann Reed who had the vision for it in March this year.
The project was funded by Wychavon District Council as part of its arts and World War One programme.
Bricks for the wall have been individually knitted and the names of each of the fallen men have been painstakingly crafted using cross stitch, while every two knitted poppy petals marks each life lost.
The piece took hundreds of hours to make and a team of volunteers from Droitwich Spa Knitting Circle also helped to create the bricks.
The roll of honour was cross stitched by Ursula Brandwood, Annette Chubb, Joan Moon and Ann Reed.
John Bodley from Droitwich Arts Network helped to fund and then mount the wall hanging.
The knitted wall hanging, was officially dedicated at the Remembrance Sunday service in Victoria Square.
