Droitwich's Pamela May crew cut back overgrowth to prevent narrowing of canals

Droitwich Editorial 10th Dec, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

THE CREW of Droitwich’s Pamela May have taken to a special workboat to clear brambles and ivy from the area’s canals.

The vessel was loaned to the group by the Canal and River Trust to ensure overgrown foliage does not restrict views or narrow the waterways.

Two groups, on different days, have already made a huge improvement to the appearance of the canal banks down towards Salwarpe.

The Pamela May also embarked on the trip to provide much-needed refreshments and a resting place for when the rain got too heavy.

The group has the workboat for another fortnight and it is hoped a lot more overgrowth will be cleared in those two weeks.

The Droitwich Waterways (Pamela May) Trust would welcome new volunteers. Anyone wanting to find out more should call Sandy Laird on 01905 773620.
