THE NORBURY Theatre is seeking actors and actresses to be in its production of Brassed Off which will be staged in September.

Open aufitions are being held by director Mike Matthews at the Friar Street Venue at 7.30pm on March 8 and 10.

The play is a stage adaptation of the 1996 film which portrays the troubles faced by a colliery brass band following the closure of their pit.

Nine men aged 35 to 50 are required as the miners, as well as women to play their wives.

There is also an opportunity for a woman in her mid-20s to take the role of the flugelhorn player, while a Jack the Lad-type character is needed to narrate the play.

Malvern District Brass Band will also be involved in the production.
