A SIT DOWN breakfast to ‘Stand Up for Farmers’ will be held in Droitwich as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.
The event will take place from 9am to 11.30am next Saturday (March 5).
Everyone is welcome to go along to the breakfast which has been organised by Droitwich Fairtrade Group and is one of many taking place up and down the country.
The group’s secretary Emily Bowsher said: “Millions of farmers and workers in developing countries work hard every day to grow the food we see each day on our breakfast tables, but many don’t earn enough to know where their next meal is coming from.
“Half of the world’s hungry people, nearly 400million, are estimated to live on small farms.
“By holding this breakfast we are hoping to make people aware that by switching to Fairtrade products they can make a real difference to people’s lives.”
Breakfasts will be £5 for adults and £3 for children and among the items on offer will include Fairtrade museli, tea, coffee, fruit, toast and range of marmalades, jams and spreads.
Youngsters will be able to take part in a lucky dip and design their own Fairtrade place mat.
A range of Fairtrade food, gifts and jewellery will be available to buy.
Fairtrade fortnight runs from Monday until March 13 and other events taking place in the town include a Fairtrade display in Droitwich Library and a stall at the Womens World Day of Prayer event at the Baptist Church.
