Droitwich town centre gets £150K cash boost

DROITWICH Town Centre will be given a £150,000 cash boost by Wychavon District Council.

The cash will be used to support schemes aimed at making the centre more attractive and an easier place to visit.

It will support the £500,000 being given by Worcestershire County Council to improve the High Street.

On top of that, Wychavon is also making £40,000 available to help with the integration of new communities in Droitwich, Evesham and Pershore because of the significant numbers of new homes scheduled to be built over the coming years.




Wychavon is using uncommitted New Homes Bonus funds to pay for the investments and was announced at the last district council meeting where the budget for the next financial year.

Plans to deal with a £1.1million Government funding cut were also approved with Wychavon ruling out cuts to essential frontline services over the next four years.


In order to do that, it is increasing its share of the council tax bill by £4.99 a year for a band D household meaning the average bill for a band D council taxpayer in Droitwich, including the district, Worcestershire County Council, parish council, West Mercia Police, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and average parish council portions, will be £1,122.31 a year.
