Snowdrops put a spring in Droitwich youngster's steps

YOUNGSTERS from Ombersley Endowed First School have been learning about the outdoors by planting snowdrops to show their support for St Richard’s Hospice.

The children planted the bulbs, donated by St Peter’s Garden Centre, in their school garden.

As well as watching them grow, they will also be able to enjoy them every spring from now on.

The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust also provided the children with an engraved wooden plaque so they can record the snowdrops being planted.

The hospice’s snowdrops project will be taken to other schools over the coming weeks.

Jayne Sargeant, the hospice’s community fund-raiser, said the snowdrop was chosen by St

Richard’s as a symbol of hope at the very beginning of spring.

“This project is a great opportunity for the children to learn about nature and also have fun developing their green fingers.”

She added the charity was very grateful to local schools which joined in with the scheme.
