YOUNG people from Droitwich Spa High School gave their local area a tidy-up when they held their ‘Clean for the Queen’ event last Friday (March 4).
The participants, who collected 15 bags of rubbish and recycling, were members of the Student Voice’s Environment Hub.
Among them were Matt Knowles, Beth Masters, Amber Hewitt, George Battin, Adam Keen, Eleanor Bradley, Jade Doody and Alex Zimmermann.
Student Beth Masters said: “It’s a really good idea.
“It allows us to spend time making the school look that bit nicer for everyone in our community.”
Conor Delaney, head of student engagement, said: “The students have put a lot of effort into ensuring that everyone can benefit from having a school site that is a little more clean and tidy.
“They should be commended for their initiative and leadership skills in organising the event.”
Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston has also backed the campaign for Britain’s largest litterpick.
He said: “I really hope people in Mid Worcestershire will consider getting involved so together we can help mark this momentous occasion.”
