COUN Frances Smith was declared new chairman of Wychavon District Council on Wednesday, taking over from outgoing chair, Coun Val Wood.
Coun Wood, said: “It has been a pleasure to represent Wychavon this last year. It also opened my eyes to the community spirit that is alive and well.
£I am sure Frances Smith will have an interesting and enjoyable year and I thank her for her support as my Vice Chairman.”
During her time as Chairman, Councillor Wood raised over £2,000 for her chosen charities, which were Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Dementia Care.
Coun Smith, said: “Being elected Chairman of Wychavon District Council is something special and a great honour.
She added: “My theme is ‘working within the community,’ and I am more than happy to promote any section of our community – be it the businesses, voluntary groups, the young and the elderly – who do so much to make Wychavon a district to be proud of.”
