Droitwich Lido to open for the season this weekend

RESIDENTS and visitors to Droitwich will be praying for some good weather tomorrow (Saturday) when the Lido opens its doors for the season.

And, to celebrate the occasion, a painting competition is being held for town schools with hundreds of free Lido tickets having been put up for grabs for the winners.

Pupils from local schools have been invited by the Friends of Droitwich Spa Lido (FODSL) to paint a picture of the outdoor pool.

The works will then be judged by local artists with the winners getting free Lido tickets for themselves and their parents.

The paintings will also be displayed at the Lido Cafe.

Suzi Wood, chairman of FODSL said: “This is an excellent way of alerting the town to the opening of the Lido and encouraging youngsters to paint their impressions of our wonderful facility.”

The tickets have been bought following events held by FODSL.

The next one is a jumble sale today (Friday) at 1pm at The Old Library.

The money raised will go towards extras for the Droitwich Lido.
