BOSSES AT Droitwich Lido are hoping the good weather continues after a 40 per cent increase in visitor numbers over half-term compared to the same time last year.

The popular outdoor pool welcomed an average of 93 visitors a day during the May school holiday.

With a teacher training day on the agenda for some of the local schools on the Monday after, youngsters and their parents queued outside the gates of the Lido in a bid to get a nice cool dip amidst the soaring temperatures which hit highs of 25°C.

One woman told The Standard: “There were lots of parents with their children.

“I know Westacre Middle and some of the surrounding village first schools were on teacher training today so the whole car park was full, plus people were queuing from the gate.”

She added, such was the outdoor pool’s popularity, another area was being used as an overflow car park.

A spokesperson for Wychavon Leisure, which runs the attraction said: “We were very lucky with the weather – it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying this fantastic facility so early on in the summer.”

No doubt youngsters will also be hoping the good weather continues so they can head back again to the Lido for some more outdoor fun.
