MEMBERS of Droitwich’s SPArkles WI have been kept busy over the last few weeks, having ‘buckets of fun’.
The group’s Bucket Club, aimed at enabling the women to try different things, went on a visit to Birmingham Magistrates Court.
SPArkles President Karen Philpott said: “Everyone has a bucket list but sometimes its hard to find people to help you tick it off.
“We have compiled a list and are making our way through it – having fun along the way.”
The day was rounded off with a behind-the-scenes tour of the town’s Norbury Theatre as SPArkles held its June meeting there.
Volunteers showed the ladies around the building, which used to be a hotel, and they even took a look backstage, mooched in the prop rooms and watched a scene being rehearsed from a future production of Brassed Off.
Karen said: “It was fascinating and we discovered so much about our local theatre, which used to be a hotel, and which does such a lot of work for the community – you can even hire the costumes and props.
“What was particularly overwhelming was the amount of volunteers needed to put on each show, from set making to staffing the bar, and the dedication of the people who give their time to keep this amazing venue going.”
SPArkles meets at 7.15pm on the first Thursday of the month at the Old Library, Ombersley Street East.
