DROITWICH Lido Park will play host to its second Go Bright for Sight Colour Run tomorrow (Saturday).
The event, to raise funds for Sight Concern Worcestershire, will see participants dressed all in white and then run, walk or dance their way through red, blue, green and pink paint stations.
Arguably the most colourful of fund-raisers is sponsored by local companies, AKW, Fortis Living, First Solution and Modus Creative.
Fiona Blake, the charity’s fund-raising manager, said: “There is great enthusiasm from the Droitwich Spa community, with nearly 300 people signed up to get colourful, but we don’t want anyone to miss out on the fun.
“The Go Bright for Sight Colour Run is open to walkers and runners of all ages.
“It’s a real family friendly event.
“Sight Concern is also offering sighted guides to enable people with sight loss to participate and be an active part of their local community.”
Julie Liggins Fitness is doing the pre-event zumba warm up and personal trainer Steve Sherry is bringing the largest team so far of 35.
After the run, entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon and families are welcome to go and enjoy the ‘Party in the Park’ around the bandstand, which will feature a DJ, bouncy castle, face-painting and a colour festival of throwing paint and Indian themed food and drink from 4 Shires Events.
Worcestershire’s brilliant adult contemporary vocal group ‘Voices Unlimited’ will be performing at 2.30pm.
Entry fees, include the paint stations, entertainment and a pair of neon sunglasses, are £11 adults, £7.50 children (under three’s free) and £8.50 for students.
A family ticket is £29, teams of ten or more are £10 per person.
The entry fee helps towards the cost of putting on the event.
Fiona added: “We’re asking all participants to raise as much sponsorship as possible to help Sight Concern reach more local people struggling with sight loss.” Anyone raising over £25 will receive a free bag of throwing paint for the warm up.
