MORE THAN 400 people took part in this year’s Droitwich Go Bright for Sight Colour Run which was held in the town’s Lido Park, writes Luke Wiggett.
Participants in the event on June 25 started off dressed in white and ran, walked and danced their way through red, blue, green and purple paint stations.
Droitwich Spa Mayor, Coun Roy Murphy, set off the orange colour fountain to begin the event and afterwards there was a ‘Party in the Park’ centred around the bandstand and organised by 4 Shires Events. It featured a DJ, bouncy castle, Indian food and drink, face painting and a colour festival where people threw paint.
The day was concluded with an appearance from Worcestershire’s adult contemporary vocal group ‘Voices Unlimited’.
Fiona Blake, fund-raising manager for Sight Concern, said: “We were thrilled with the turnout and everyone enjoyed themselves.”
She also thanked the sponsors, which included AKW, Fortis Living, First Solution, Modus Creative and Southco and those who helped run the event, such as Droitwich Athletics Club, the Young Firefighters, Droitwich Lions, Volunteeasy and Julie Liggins Fitness who warmed up participants with a Zumba session.
