ENTERPRISING youngsters raised almost £400 for the campaign to restore the tennis courts at Droitwich Spa Lido Park.
Pupils from Westacre Middle School collected £140 following a cake sale which will be split between the drive and St Richard’s Hospice
Children from St Peter’s Church of England First School raised £368.49 with a ‘dress up as your favourite sports star day.’
Campaign founder Elaine Newman said: “It’s absolutely fantastic the school children have got behind this campaign.
“I cannot thank them enough for their support.
“With the proposed support from Wychavon District Council, it will be amazing to have some of the best courts right on our doorstep for people to use whenever they want and for free.”
Senior parks and greenspace officer at Wychavon District Council Lynn Stevens added: “If Elaine can raise half the money needed, then together we should be able to upgrade the playing surface of the tennis courts so they can be enjoyed by generations to come.”
