SPA residents in crisis are being given the chance to enjoy a range of fresh home-grown produce after Fortis Living tenants teamed up with the Droitwich Foodbank.
The tenants have been tending the community garden on Winslow Avenue since 2014, developing it from an overgrown eyesore, into somewhere that members of the local community of all ages can come together to collectively grow their own vegetables, fruits and flowers.
The scheme also means the team has produced a bumper harvest and, keen to share the fruits of their labour, volunteers have donated their spare produce to the Baptist Church based foodbank.
Mary Stanbury, Foodbank leader at the Droitwich Centre said: “It is always uplifting to see the local community pulling together to help make a difference to those in need.
“Those who use the foodbank really appreciate the fresh produce.”
Residents who can spare some time to help in the garden can call Chris Colley, Fortis Living’s community officer on 01905 670271.
