DROITWICH Fire Station is on the look out for on-call firefighters to join the team at the Friar Street base.
The crew will be holding an awareness session at 7pm on Monday (August 8) at the station for anyone interested to visit and ask questions about the role.
On-call firefighters must be over 18-years-old and live within five minutes of the station so they will be able to respond to an emergency within that time.
Station Commander Phil Sanders said: “We welcome interest from men and women who can get to the station within five minutes of being called to respond to an emergency.
“The role is a challenging yet extremely rewarding one, and provides a vital service within the local community.
“It’s also a chance to learn a range of new skills, such as accident prevention and first aid, which can be of real benefit in other areas of your life, whether at home or at work.”
Team member Dan Preece said: “I enjoy being part of a team and knowing that I can help and give back to my local community.
“The new skills I’ve learnt are invaluable to me in all my work.”
Trainees receive an annual retainer of between £1,600 to £2,200 as well as extra payment for emergency call outs.
Fully-trained firefighters can earn up to £8,000-a-year depending on the cover they provide the number of call outs.
Anyone interested should call Hereford and Worcesters fire and Rescue Service on 01905 368343.
