Droitwich firefighters were called to the scene along with two other crews, at about 11.30am this morning (Tuesday) to the scene on the A449, near junction 6 of the M5.
One of the LGVs was carrying wood-chips and was therefore engulfed in flames. It’s driver was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Worcestershire Royal hospital with chest injuries believed to be caused by his seat belt.
An ambulance spokesman said: “The other driver was uninjured and was able to decouple the cab from the trailer before the fire took hold.
“The A449 remains completely closed in both directions could remain so for several hours – an estimated re-opening time is 5pm.
“Motorists are advised to be aware that surrounding roads are likely to be extremely busy.”
