YOUNG PEOPLE receiving bereavement support from St Richard’s Hospice took part in an activity afternoon at Upton Warren Adventure Centre.
In the morning they attended their support groups, which help individuals build relationships and to talk to others in similar situations.
Then in the afternoon they headed for some outdoor adventure.
During the afternoon, they took part in team-building exercises and activities such as 3G swings, mask making and crate stacking. These were specially designed to create coping mechanisms for those who fell victim to bereavement at a young age.
St Richard’s social worker Hayley Spencer, who helped to organise the support groups, said: “This was particularly aimed at supporting teenagers, giving them opportunity to share and explore their experiences and feelings.
“By bringing young people together it can often help them feel less isolated.
“They were very positive about the day and particularly found it helpful using creativity as a way of expressing their thoughts and feelings.”
