BOSSES at Droitwich Lido have thanked the staff, lifeguards, volunteers and the public for their support after the popular attraction had its most successful season for three years.
More than 25,000 visitors went along to the popular brine fed pool and splash park between May 28 and last weekend when it closed its doors for another season.
The most popular day was July 19 when Droitwich experienced its hottest day of 2016 and the mercury soared to 32°C. A total 1,327 visitors were welcomed on that day. There were 20 occasions when the pool reached its full capacity and four days where more than 1,000 guests went through the doors.
Local news reporters from both the BBC and ITV even presented their weather forecasts from the Lido during the summer, radio journalists went there to interview swimmers and it has been featured in The Standard on numerous occasions, as well as on our websites and social media pages.
There were also 11 children’s parties held at the Lido and the Droitwich Dolphins Swimming Club has taken advantage of the outdoor pool throughout the summer, swimming weekly in the evenings.
For the 2016 season, Droitwich Lido also introduced a selfie competition. The winner will be announced very soon and will receive free entry in 2017.
Twenty-two lifeguards worked tirelessly throughout the season to keep swimmers safe, clean and enjoyable and, bosses say, the success would not have been made possible.
Wychavon Leisure also wishes to thank the Friends of Droitwich Spa Lido (FODSL) for their continued year round support and fundraising efforts.
Suzi Woods, Chair of FODSL, said: “We would like to thank Lido staff, lifeguards and volunteers who have worked so hard to keep the Lido running so smoothly and efficiently over the summer season
“The brine feed has now been turned off for the final time in 2016.
“Thank you once again to everybody who visited the Droitwich Spa Lido this summer. It has been a fantastic season and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.”
The Friends of Droitwich Spa Lido are hosting a jazz night on November 25 to raise funds for the pool. Call 01905 772601 or 01905 774391 for tickets.
