THE SUN shone down on the Droitwich Spa and District Horticultural Society’s Annual Flower Show which took place on bank holiday Monday.

More than 500 exhibits were displayed at Droitwich Sports Centre as part of the show which is now in its 68th year and is as popular as ever.

Visitors were treated to wonderful examples of flowers, fruit, vegetables, show-stopping bakes and home-made crafts.

There was also a photographic and children’s section at the event, which was well supported by society members and friends.

Away from the main exhibition hall there were a variety of stalls and refreshments on offer, along with entertainment for all ages thanks to a fairground organ, puppet theatre, representatives from Gloverspiece minifarm and blackboard art competition.

Awards were presented by Droitwich Spa Mayor Coun Roy Murphy with Charlie Hodges receiving the trophy for most points in the show.

The day concluded with an auction of produce and a raffle draw.

The society wants to thank all of those who helped out over the weekend, to all exhibitors for taking part and to the members of the public who attended.

The organisation’s autumn show will be held next Saturday (September 17) at The Sacred Heart Parish Hall, Worcester Road, Droitwich.
