AN ASPIRING Droitwich author who began writing five years ago has published her very first book.

You Have My Heart is described by writer Joanna Hughes as ‘a cross pollination of Bridget Jones and Fifty Shades of Grey’.

She told the Standard: “I first started writing about five years ago, but never got round to finishing any of my stories.

“Then my sister told me ‘I’m not reading another one of your stories until you finish at least one.

“Her words were always at the back of my mind, and I was absolutely determined to finish, just so I could say I’ve done it – I’ve done what I’ve always wanted to do.”

Joanna said she gave the book to a couple of friends and also to people who she was not particularly close to for some ‘proper criticism.’

She added: “The feedback from everyone has been great, which really gave me the belief I could do it, so I published it, and it paid off.”

Since the book’s launch on August 17, Joanne has already sold 350 copies of the online edition, ten copies of the hard copy and received an abundance of five-star ratings and reviews on Amazon.

The 38,-year old mum-of-three is already writing her second book – My Beautiful Disaster – which she is hoping to release before Christmas.

You Have My Heart is available on Amazon.
