FREE informative walk exploring 'Droitwich's Historic Buildings' at 2.30pm today in the town centre

A FREE and informative walk exploring Droitwich’s Oldest Buildings will take place in the Spa today (Sunday).

It will begin at 2.30pm outside the fire station in Friar Street and led by Lyn Blewitt from Historic Droitwich.

The project, funded by a three-year Heritage Lottery grant, has been looking back at Droitwich’s past, including the latest tree ring dating results for Star Yard (next to the Talbot Inn) which was found to have dated back to 1513.

Those wanting to book their place should call Claire Lloyd on 01905 771865.

A month-long ‘Historic Droitwich’ exhibition in the gallery at Droitwich Library was officially opened yesterday (Saturday).

It showcases some of the findings from the Historic Droitwich project, focusing on the properties and people along High Street and Friar Street.

The exhibition, which is completely free, will be open to view during normal library opening times from now until October 8.

Next Saturday (September 17) and on October 1, local historians will be available with their collections in the gallery to answer any local history questions between 10am and midday.

Anyone with any photographs or documents they want to share with them can just drop in during those times.
