AN EPIC contest against local rivals Worcester F saw Droitwich Men’s E claim a losing draw in Division Nine East of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League.
James Stanford and Ricky Hollander battled to the bitter end in both of their matches and were unluvky to lse them both 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 and 6-4, 5-7, 6-7 respectively.
Stuart Wall and Mark Venables were also forced all the way in both of their matches but managed to win 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 and 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 respectively.
However Worcester managed to win more games and claimed the winning draw.
Meanwhile, the Men’s A team picked up a deserved victory at home to Wall Heath A in Division One.
Mark Jones and James Nam produced an excellent display to win their first match 6-3, 6-2 but came up against a strong pair in their second, losing 0-6 3-6.
The stars of the show were the delightful double of Lee Cowan and Matt Baker who battled to a superb 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 victory in their first match before a comfortable 6-0, 6-1 victory in their second to secure a much-needed win.
