A RALLYING call has gone out to residents to go along to a public meeting on Monday (November 7) so they can have their say on how they would like Droitwich to be in the future.
The get-together, between 7.30pm and 9pm at St Andrew’s Church, is the next stage of looking into the possibility of mapping out a neighbourhood plan for the town.
Organisers want to hear from people regarding a variety of issues, including housing developments, infrastructure, types of businesses, car parking, building design, heritage, recreational areas and youth activities.
Among those working on the possibility of the town having a neighbourhood plan are For Droitwich Spa Ltd, a not fro profit company limited by guarantee.
The three volunteer directors include Keith Westray, John P Dudley and John Armstrong FCII who is also the chairman.
Mr Armstrong said: “It is great news the town council has at last decided to let the community exercise their rights, under the Localism Act 2011, to have their say on local planning issues by forming a neighbourhood plan.
“It is now up to residents to decide if they care enough about their future lifestyle and that of their family, and the town’s future, to make a plan.
“The town is falling behind the rest of the country as over 8Million people in other areas are already covered by plans passed into planning law or in preparation.
“The timing however is good because the Government has past new regulations from October 1 which assist to speed up the process of forming a plan and getting it passed into law.”
Anyone who wants to be a part of the project but cannot make Monday’s meeting should email Richard Morris at [email protected] with their details.
