DROITWICH residents will be able to dedicate a ‘Light of Love’ in memory of someone close to them as part of St Richard’s Hospice’s annual fund-raising drive.
The Lights of Love service, at 6pm on Tuesday (November 22) at the town’s Sacred Heart Church, will feature readings, music and a time for quiet reflection. There will also be a performance by the Dodderhill School Choir.
The event is expected to be very popular so those going along should arrive early.
Refreshments, including mince pies, will be available in the church hall afterwards.
Those dedicating a Light of Love will have the name of their loved ones displayed on boards surrounding the tree in St Andrew’s Spire, Worcester, and there will be a book of thanksgiving in Droitwich Library.
St Richard’s Hospice’s senior fund-raiser Alison Parkes said: “These services are deeply appreciated by the hundreds of people who attend – many of whom are the families and friends of people who are, or who have been, cared for by St Richard’s.
“These community gatherings – where people are united by their shared experience of missing someone dear – bring great comfort and support, through lighting a candle and taking time to reflect.”
Last year, 2,891 lights were dedicated to people and hundreds have already been dedicated this time around.
So far the fund-raising drive has raised £27,000 towards the care the hospice provides.
