DROITWICH artist Rosie Philpott, who is famous for her ‘wonky paintings’ has created a special masterpiece for the festive season.
After the success of her ‘Wonky Droitwich’ picture which depicted the one end of the town’s High Street and has now sold out, she has done another one of the other end of the High Street at Christmas time.
The painting, ‘Tree of Lights’ depicts the Salvation Army Band playing under the sparkling trees.
Rosie told The Standard: “I remember last year hearing many people say that Christmas starts for them when they hear the Salvation Army Band.
“As a member of the Droitwich Corps and knowing that our band often plays during the light switch-on event, it seemed the perfect scene.
“I am very proud of what the Salvation Army does and I wanted to express this in my work.”
She added although she heard the band play every Sunday morning, there was something special about them playing carols in the open during the festive season.
“I hope that with my use of different light and the narrative I have created,
“I can express this to others and capture that same festive love.”
Limited-edition prints are available to purchase in A3 (£60) and A2 (£125).
They are supplied framed and signed by the artist and with a certificate of authenticity.
As with all of Rosie’s work, the deadline to order prints is December 5 in order to guarantee Christmas delivery.
The release coincides with this weekend’s Droitwich Christmas lights switch-on.
