Droitwich Foodbank issues its heartfelt thanks to residents and organisations who donated food and other items

THOSE running Droitwich Foodbank want to say a big thank you to the great generosity of local people in the run up to Christmas who have helped the organisation enormously with gifts of food, toiletries and money.

David Stanbury, the Chair of the Trustees of Droitwich Spa Foodbank, said: “Our foodbank has been exceptionally busy processing all the incoming food and then packing it in boxes for clients referred to collect food at our Foodbank Centre at Droitwich Spa Baptist church.

“In addition boxes of Christmas food from the foodbank have been distributed by Age UK, WANDS Children’s Centre, Fortis Living and local churches to people in Droitwich Spa and the surrounding area.”

Almost 500kg of food has been donated in recent weeks and, with all the packing needed, the warehouse staff have all been kept very busy.

The foodbank’s volunteers have also been busy with an increase in numbers of clients seeking support from our Foodbank.

Food and money has come via local churches, collection points in local retailers such as Shelter, Specsavers, and Waitrose, local schools and local firms and businesses, such as Vax, Doncasters, Precision Casting – Deritend, Ormerod Rutters, Witton WI, Worcestershire WI, Lloyds Bank and Barclays Bank, Responsiva Data Services – and Droitwich United Charities.

Nancy Marsh, a student at Dodderhill School, Droitwich Spa, organised her friends at the school to give food – she is pictured here with some of the food with one of the volunteers at the Foodbank Centre.

The Foodbank is open at Droitwich Baptist Church on TUESDAYS from 12.30pm – 2.30pm and on Fridays between 2pm and 4pm.
