A WALLET containing a sentimental photograph was stolen from an elderly man on New Year’s Eve in Droitwich.

At 10:20am on Saturday (December 31), the 78-year-old man was at the tills in Wilkinson’s on St Andrew’s Square when he dropped his wallet on the floor.

CCTV shows another man then picked up the wallet and concealed it in his coat before paying for his own goods and leaving the area.

The stolen wallet contained a small amount of cash, a driving license and a bus pass. However, of most value to the victim inside the wallet was also a photograph of his wife.

The suspect was between 35 and 45 years old with dark, thinning hair and a dark beard, wearing a large dark jacket with a fur lined hood and blue jeans.

Police are asking members of the public to come forward should they have any information on the incident or recognise the man in the photograph.

Those with information are asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 197 of 31st December 2016 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
