MORE THAN £7,500 was raised for St Richard’s Hospice in donations in just three days of the charity’s Christmas tree recycling scheme.
Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers, from January 13 to 15, over 600 trees were picked up from homes, offices and schools.
St Richard’s had asked people to make a donation for recycling their trees to support the independent charity’s free care and support of those living with a life-limiting illness.
Among the local businesses that had backed the scheme were Fortis Living, Droitwich Spa Marina, David’s Nurseries and Gwilliams.
Jayne Sargeant, St Richard’s Hospice community fund-raiser, said: “Clearing away a real Christmas tree after the festive season can be a hassle, but this service made life easier for people because the trees were collected from their own doorsteps.
“We want to thank the fantastic volunteers who made this possible and who supported our care in this way.”
She added although this was the first time the charity had ran the scheme, it was hoping to make in an annual fund-raiser.
