DROITWICH’S Men’s F team managed to steal a tight winning draw against local rivals Bromsgrove G in Division 12 East of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League.
Roger Satterthwaite and Kevin Pollard did not give up until the very last point in both of their matches but they lost 1-6, 4-6 and 1-6, 6-7 respectively.
However, John Jenkins and Martin Adams battled their way to two comfortable victories – 6-2, 6-3 in the first and 6-0, 6-1 in the second.
This ensured Droitwich had done enough to secure a winning draw and keep them above the drop zone.
Meanwhile, the Men’s A team were also victorious following an excellent display at Stourbridge A in Division One.
Mark Jones and Jon Sarriegui were embroiled in two long three-setters, winning their first 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 before losing their second 3-6, 7-5, 2-6.
Matt Baker and Lee Cowan displayed some superb tennis as they won their first game 6-3, 7-5 before a more trick 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 victory in the second.
The result leaves Droitwich comfortably in mid-table.
