A LETTER signed by James Brindley relating to the construction of the Droitwich canal will go on show at a the Edgbaston Book Fair
The letter, which is dated ‘Droitwich, May 7th’ and thought to be circa 1767, asks for 150 plans to be sent to the Navigation office in Birmingham.
It was found by Dr David Salt of Salsus Books, Kidderminster.
The letter reads: “Sir, I should be glad you would sent down to Birmingham a hundred and fifty plans as soon as you — conveniently can and it will greatly oblige Sir.
“Your most obliged honourable servant ..
“James Brindley
“NB please to direct them to Mr. Joseph Dalloway at the Navigation office, New Hall Walk, Birmingham.”
The PBFA Edgbaston Book Fair takes place at the MAC Birmingham, Cannon Hill Park, between 10.00am to 4.00pm next Saturday (November 25).
