Worcestershire Labour Group reveals its manifesto for May's county council elections

Droitwich Editorial 18th Feb, 2017   0

THE WORCESTERSHIRE Labour Group has launched its manifesto for the county council elections on May 4.

Among the party’s pledges are to introduce a Social Charter for commissioning which will guarantee local employment, living wage and training apprentices ‘within an ethical framework’ and ‘forming co-operatives to deliver services without the overheads of chief officers’.

The document also features plans for economic development and ideas geared towards delivering services to reflect the needs of the differing districts.

Leader Coun Peter McDonald said the group was confident of winning the election and ‘delivering a co-operative council’.

“We are committed to finding better ways of working for, and with, local people for the benefit of their local community.

“Our emphasis will be on investing in services not cutting them.

“Austerity is not a necessity but a political choice and we will not be choosing austerity.”
