RESIDENTS have just a few days left to add their name to the petition created in a bid to stop the closure of Droitwich’s NatWest bank.
So far there are more than 500 signatures on the lists, which can be signed in various town centre buildings, including the Parks Cafe and St Richard’s House.
Sue Cottam, who started the petition, said: “I’m grateful to the support from The Standard and by everyone who has already signed the petition.
“If you are against the move and have not yet signed you need to do so by the end of the month.”
She added there were around 40 signatures on the online version which showed how people preferred to do things, like banking, face-to-face rather than online.
The petition will be collected next week and then be submitted to NatWest.
The bank’s bosses said the proposals, scheduled for the summer, were in response to a 27 per cent drop in transactions at the Droitwich branch between 2010 and 2015 and a 59 per cent rise in mobile and online banking.
They added mobile transactions had increased by 1,350 per cent and online banking by 400 per cent.
They say, as a result of the change in trends, the branch has seen a decline of 55 per cent from people addressing their banking needs.
