Creative Droitwich siblings win Real Easter Egg design competition

Droitwich Editorial 14th Apr, 2017   0

TWO siblings – Darwin and Willow Brookes – who are regulars at the Messy Church at St Andrews Church in Droitwich have won first prize in The national Real Easter Egg ‘Draw Easter’ Competition.

The pair were joint first from thousands of entries in the Sunday School/ Messy Church category.

In the Competition children were asked to draw an A4 picture showing how they visualised what happened on that first morning of Easter Day.

For winning St Andrews Messy Church will receive £250 and the children have been handed a Special Real Easter Egg each.

To celebrate there will be a Special Easter Messy Church tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to midday.

Every child will receive a real Easter Midi Egg.

At the session, Easter baskets, cards chicks, edible Easter garden and lots more crafts will be made.

There will also be songs, a short talk and a free lunch of sandwiches and cake.

With each free Real Easter Egg is a book which tells the Easter story.

The CEO of the Meaningful Chocolate Company David Marshall said: “We chose Darwin and Willows pictures as winners because their pictures are full of joy and detail which is appropriate for the Easter narrative.

“In Darwin’s picture you can see the angel pointing at the risen Jesus and Willow’s picture shows the shock and joy on the faces of the women who meet the angel at the empty tomb.”

Rev Bev Jameson, Team Vicar Droitwich Spa, Salwarpe and Hindlip with Martin Hussigntree, said: “We are so proud of Willow and Darwin – they really wished to win the £250 prize for the Messy Church they love and they spent ages on their drawings.

“I know they will enjoy the chocolate eggs they have won on Easter Sunday.”
