RESIDENTS are being urged to help raise funds and awareness of dementia as part of a new campaign launched by Fortis Living.
Steps Together is aimed at bringing communities and generations together to share their memories of the county ahead of Dementia Awareness Week – that runs from May 15 to 27.
Fortis Living staff, tenants and schoolchildren will be taking part in a walk across the county and raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Along the way they will be collecting memorabilia and photos along with messages for future generations, all of which will be sealed in a time capsule.
Starting in Droitwich, the walkers will be stopping at locations en route where people are encouraged to share their past Worcestershire memories with local schoolchildren who have been invited to talk about their hopes for the future.
The walk will pass through Fernhill Heath and Worcester before heading over the river to Malvern.
The final ascent will be up to the Worcestershire Beacon on May 27.
Paul Edwards, Fortis Living’s community officer, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to bring communities and generations together and raise money for a very worthy cause.
“We’d love to hear from anyone who’d like to get involved, be that through sharing their own memories or joining us for part of the walk.”
