Go back to the Good Old Days of the Music Hall at Droitwich's Norbury Theatre this Saturday

Droitwich Editorial 23rd May, 2017   0

THE GOOD Old Days of the Music Hall are returning to Droitwich at a special event being held at the Norbury Theatre tomorrow (Saturday).

There will be two performances – at 2.30pm and 7.30pm – by the Worcester Gilbert and Sullivan Society, which is taking a break from its much-loved G&S operettas to bring some glamour to the Friar Street stage.

The shows promise to be entertaining and fun-filled, offering the traditional music hall style with a myriad of music and mirth, packed with well-loved songs, close harmony, singing and comedy all under the watchful eye of chairman Colin Wilks.

The audience will be transported from the seaside to Vienna, then on to London for a good old Cockney knees-up at the local public house, first having witnessed the society’s first venture into murder mystery (except there is not much mystery about it).

The special guest will be the ever-popular and multi-talented Barry North, a firm favourite with local audiences providing tributes to the music hall superstars of yesteryear – Max Miller, Marie Lloyd and Frank Randle.

Throw in a veritable vermouth of vocal vivacity in ventriloquism, tantalising terpsichore, and the lilting loquacity of a Barbershop Quartet, and those watching will be transported back to Those Good Old Days of Music Hall.

Those going along are urged to dress up (if they want to) and sing up.
