Youngsters from Droitwich's St Josephs School create classic Italian pasta with town chef

YOUNGSTERS from Droitwich’s St Josephs Primary School cooked an Italian pasta dish with chef Scott from Bullocks’ Galleria.

The event was held this week in the run up to the Droitwich Food Festival.

St Josephs are one of four schools and a care home which has enjoyed food-related activities.

Others have included six youngsters from Westlands First School heading to the Vernon Arms in Hanbury on where they watched a demonstration by the chefs.

They then had the chance to make their own pizzas.

In June two pre-school groups and children from the Blue Giraffe Nursery will go along to the Droitwich Spa Methodist Church to make their own lollipops.

The residential home at Newlandhurst are planning a barbecue with Mark and Christine from Deliciously Squared Catering.

Patrick Davis, the Droitwich Food Festival organiser, has linked up local chefs with local schools with the emphasis on local ingredients.

The focus is on the importance of preparation and cooking rather than just getting a take away or ready meal from the supermarket.

The Droitwich Food and Drink Festival will be held in the Lido Park on June 17.

It will be officially opened by TV chef Brian Turner and it will feature around 100 exhibitors offering a wide range of produce, the demonstration kitchen, live entertainment throughout the day and a ‘Kids Zone’ offering a multitude of free activities for children.
